This issue brief discusses the current public health crises of drug overdoses, alcohol use, and suicides in the U.S. The authors focus on key policies for improving well-being (e.g., preventing and reducing opioid and other drug misuse, reducing excessive alcohol consumption, effective approaches to suicide), improving behavioral healthcare as an approach to support whole person health, and prioritizing prevention through promoting healthier communities and raising a healthier generation of children. The issue brief also includes key recommendations for building a national resilience strategy.
