State Guidance for the New Limited Exception to the IMD Exclusion for Certain Pregnant and Postpartum Women (SUPPORT Act): Help for Moms and Babies

Source: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

The IMD exclusion forbids the expenditure of federal funding on services provided in facilities with more than 16 beds, and this guidance letter instructs states on how to write their Medicaid policies to allow for treatment of pregnant women with substance use disorders in these facilities under certain conditions.
