Source: American Medical Association & Manatt

The 2020 national roadmap for state strategies to address the nation’s drug overdose epidemic updates the 2019 publication and focuses on 6 strategic areas: increasing access to evidence-based treatments for substance use disorders (SUDs); enforcing mental health and SUD parity laws; ensuring access to physician care; improving access to multi-modal pain care; expanding harm reduction efforts; and improving monitoring and evaluation. The report provides progress updates from the 2019 report and includes recommendations from states including action items. Prepared during the COVID-19 public health emergency, the report also highlights the need to address health equity issues including the disproportionate impact and lack of access to care for American Indians, Asians, Black Americans and Latinos.
