Opioid & Health Indicators Database

The Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR) created this interactive data dashboard of opioid and health indicators that allows users to explore national, state, and local data. There are a large number of indicators included in the dataset including opioid prescriptions by age and population, overdose deaths, law enforcement seizures of fentanyl and many others.

Scorecard on State Health System Performance

The Commonwealth Fund annually compiles information from all states measuring access to care, quality of care, health outcomes, and health disparities. This interactive website allows users to view the data by topic or state. The subject matter of the website is broad, with some measures directly addressing opioid related issues such as drug overdose deaths and access to behavioral health treatment.

County-level Vulnerability Assessment for Rapid Dissemination of HIV or HCV Infections among Persons who Inject Drugs, United States

This 2016 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study looked at data to identify counties in the United States that were vulnerable to HIV or hepatitis C outbreaks in persons who inject drugs. The study identified 220 counties in 26 states with heightened vulnerability to HIV and hepatitis C outbreaks and encouraged state and local health departments to implement prevention strategies. Aligning City, County and State Resources to Address the Opioid Epidemic

This report draws on knowledge gained from the Mayors’ Institute on Opioids which focused on assisting 6 communities in addressing their opioid related issues. This report describes the findings from this project, including emphasizing the need for cross-sector partnerships and integration, a focus on equity and reducing stigma, and innovative ways to use data to focus cross-agency partnerships.
