This guide from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Bureau of Justice Assistance provides resources for preventing and addressing medication diversion for medication assisted treatment (MAT) programs in correctional facilities. The guide provides recommendations for how correctional staff can decrease diversion of medications by creating multi-disciplinary teams to deliver MAT, developing patient centered treatment plans, providing on-going education to staff, and creating policies to effectively work with community treatment providers.
