This report details the findings from NASEM’s workgroup on providing substance use disorder and behavioral health care in primary care settings. The report defines the essential components of treating depression, alcohol use disorder and opioid use disorder in the primary care setting, describes opportunities to build the health care workforce and delivery models for this care, and discusses financial incentives and payment structures for these care models.
