Arizona Treatment Capacity Survey Analysis for the Quarter Ending December 31, 2018

Source: Arizona Department of Health Services

The state of Arizona requires substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers to report quarterly on the number of days they were full and unable to accept referrals for treatment. The Arizona Department of Health Services surveyed SUD treatment facilities and found a low response rate to the survey, lower than the third quarter 2018 report. Other findings remained the same, indicating insufficient treatment capacity for children and youth, limited acceptance of some insurance plans, limited acceptance of justice related treatment referrals, and an overall shortage of both inpatient and outpatient treatment placements.
